Tanzanite engagement rings and tanzanite dress rings
Tanzanite is an exceptionally soft gemstone (6.5 - 7 on Moh's hardness scale) when compared to diamonds (10), sapphires (9) and rubies (9). For this reason, Katannuta does not recommend the use of tanzanite in engagement rings where the ring is going to be worn daily and be subjected to regular wear and tear. Being so soft, tanzanite may chip relatively easily, so Katannuta recommends the use of tanazanite in dress rings only.
