Katannuta does not operate a retail store and does not carry any stock of diamonds or jewellery. Instead, clients are met by appointment only, diamonds are sourced upon request and jewellery is manufactured to order only. This allows us to keep our operating costs to a minimum, which means greater savings for you, the client. Additionally, it means we are able to manufacture to almost any design you may request. Please contact us directly to discuss your requirements and to schedule an appointment.
Please do send it to us (info@katannuta.com) together with your preferred budget and we will advise as to whether we can manufacture the item to your budget and can then quote on the manufacture of the item in the picture.
Katannuta is able to supply and set precious gemstones such as sapphire, ruby, emerald, tanzanite and diamond, either as loose gemstones or set in the jewellery of your choice.
Katannuta only deals in precious stones, not semi-precious stones and thus we do not supply semi-precious gems such as garnet, topaz, tourmaline, aquamarine, citrine, onyx and so forth. We also do not supply or set diamond simulants such as cubic zirconia or moissanite. Neither do we manufacture jewellery in silver, only in white and yellow gold (predominantly 18ct but occasionally 9ct), platinum and titanium.
Unfortunately the production of black titanium is a patented process that at this stage cannot be replicated by our titanium manufacturers within South Africa. Currently, the only way to buy a black titanium ring is to order internationally and have it delivered to South Africa.
No, it is not. White gold is alloyed with other metals (normally silver, nickel or palladium) to increase durability and impart a metallic white colour. 9ct white gold is alloyed with 62.5% other metals and 18ct white gold is alloyed with 25% other metals. Both 9ct and 18ct white gold is plated with Rhodium (a Platinum-group element) to impart the bright white appearance one associates with new white gold jewellery. Over time this plating wears off, exposing the natural dirty white colour of the gold. White gold jewellery can be re-plated with Rhodium every few years at minimal cost to restore the white gold lustre.
Titanium, platinum and palladium are the purest metals that you will find used in jewellery, so a choice of one of these is the best suggestion. They are known as hypo-allergenic metals. Stay away from 9ct gold jewellery as it has a low proportion of gold and can have a high proportion of nickel, known to induce allergic reactions.

All diamonds supplied by Katannuta larger than 0.30ct in size are certified by an independent gemmological laboratory. All our diamond suppliers adhere strictly to the Kimberley Process and guarantee the supply of stones from conflict-free zones.
Katannuta jewellery is manufactured by hand by qualified goldsmiths and manufacturing jewellers who are also suppliers to well-known South African retail stores such as Jenna Clifford, Charles Greig, Browns, Arthur Kaplan Jewellers and Wolf Bros.
