Once in a while, a very special diamond will come up for auction. This is one of those diamonds. On November 10th, one night before Sotheby’s will auction the Blue Moon diamond, rival auction house Christie’s will auction a rare, 16.08ct vivid pink diamond.
This will be the largest cushion-cut fancy vivid pink diamond ever offered on auction and is unique in that only 3 pure vivid pink diamonds over 10cts in size have ever appeared on auction. Pre-sale estimates for the diamond are in the $23-$28million range.
This diamond is unique not just as a result of it’s size, but also that it has no trace of a secondary colour, as is often the case in other pink diamonds. An even colour distribution, together with balanced saturation and tone have resulted in a GIA “Fancy Vivid” colour grading certification.
Set in a platinum ring and surrounded by a double-halo of pave-set white diamonds, the ring will be displayed in Hong Kong and New York ahead of it’s auction in Geneva.
